Mother's Day has a way of sneaking up on us.
One moment it is weeks away, and then suddenly it is right there, and you are standing in the kitchen in your pajamas wondering how another year passed so quickly.
I think about that a lot. The way time moves differently once you become a mother. Faster and slower all at once. Full and fleeting in the same breath.
If there is one thing I have learned from photographing families across El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Sacramento, and throughout the stunning foothills, it is this mothers are almost always the ones behind the camera. The ones capturing every milestone, every first, every ordinary Tuesday that somehow feels extraordinary. And yet when I open a family's gallery, it is rare to find many images of Mama herself. Really in it. Really present. Really seen.
This Mother's Day, I want to gently change that for you.
You deserve to be in the frame.
Each season of motherhood passes before you even realize it is happening. The bump that felt like it would last forever. The newborn that fit perfectly in the crook of your arm. The toddler who still reached for your hand without thinking about it.

Spring in the Sacramento foothills is something truly special. It is soft and golden and gentle in a way that makes every image feel like it was taken in a dream. The wildflowers are beginning to blooming, the air is warm without being heavy, and everything feels fresh and full of possibility.
There is also something so special about the light of a spring sunset, it is soft and golden and unhurried, the kind of light that wraps itself around a growing bump, a delicate newborn, or a giggling family gathered together and makes everything feel timeless.
