El Dorado Hills & Sacramento In-Home Family Photographer
From the moment I stepped through their front door I knew this session was going to be something special.
Everything felt warm and inviting. Everywhere I looked I was met with stunning decor, from the terracotta walls to the copper pots hanging in the kitchen to the beautiful staircase or that stunning window seat where their oldest daughter curled up with her bunny like she had done it a thousand times before. Although all of that was absolutely stunning. It was the feeling of the place. The way it was so completely and unapologetically theirs, and I was so honored to be invited in.
This is what I love most about in-home sessions.
A home does not lie. It tells you exactly who a family is before anyone says a word.
Every home tells a story before a single photo is taken. You just have to know how to read it.
Books stacked on the coffee table and the kitchen counter and tucked into corners you would not expect. A kitchen that is clearly the heart of the house, warm and well used and full of the kind of details that only come from a family who actually gathers there. Little ones moving through the space with complete ownership, their stuffed animals and sock feet and the particular confidence of children who know exactly where they belong.
This is what I am always paying attention to when I arrive at a session. Not just where to stand or how the light is falling, but what the home is already telling me about the people who live inside it. Because every family leaves their mark on a space in a completely unique way. The things on your shelves, the wear on your couch cushions, the way your kids navigate from room to room like they have done it ten thousand times. All of it is part of your story.
And when I can capture a family inside the space that holds all of that, something happens in the images that is very difficult to replicate anywhere else. You can feel the life in them.
Why I Love In-Home Sessions So Much
I offer three session options for families, outdoors at golden hour, in my studio here in El Dorado Hills, and in your own home. And while each one produces something beautiful and completely different, there is something about in-home sessions that I come back to again and again as one of the most meaningful things I get to do.
Your home is where your family actually lives. It is where your children feel the most like themselves. It is where the ordinary moments happen, the ones that do not make it onto the highlight reel but are actually the texture of your everyday life together. The reading on the couch. The chaos in the kitchen. The quiet moment in the hallway that you would never think to photograph but will someday wish you had.
In-home sessions are also incredibly forgiving for little ones. There are no unfamiliar locations to adjust to, no temperature changes, no distractions. Just their own space, their own things, and a photographer who is simply there to notice what is already beautiful about the life you have built together.
Is an In-Home Session Right for Your Family
If any part of you has ever thought, I wish someone could just come and capture us the way we actually are at home, the answer is yes. This is exactly what an in-home session is for.
You do not need a perfectly styled home. You do not need everything to be in its place. In fact some of my favorite details from this session were the stacks of books and the well worn cushions on the window seat and the copper pots hanging above the stove. The things that made this home feel real and loved and lived in are the same things that made the images feel timeless.
If an in-home session is something you have been curious about, I would love to talk through what that could look like for your family. I serve families throughout El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Roseville, Granite Bay, Sacramento, and the surrounding foothills area, and I am available for in-home sessions throughout the region.

We had a gray, heavy sky that afternoon, the kind that makes some people want to reschedule, but this senior looked at it and shrugged. She put on a beautiful dress with little puffed sleeves, shook out her hair, and walked into a hillside of tall golden grass like she had been waiting all year to do exactly that.
