Christmas Petite Sessions Are Just around the corner

After we recently finished up the new section of our El Dorado Hills photography studio, I couldn’t help but start to dream about what it would look like decorated for my annual Christmas Petite sessions. I had so many ideas, and we had barely even opened the doors.

A couple of weeks ago, I just couldn’t wait any longer and decided to set up the studio for an inspo shoot for the Christmas sessions, and once I was done, I honestly stood there for a moment just taking it all in. The frosted tree in the arch, the soft gold of the ornaments, and that gorgeous afternoon light settling over everything. I took a photo on my phone just for myself because I did not want to forget what it looked like before anyone else saw it. And then I thought, I need to get families in here. So we planned a sweet little family session so I could show all of you exactly what to expect for these upcoming Petite sessions.

The Studio at Christmas

The new studio has these beautiful sculptural arched alcoves and from the moment we finished building them out I kept thinking, a Christmas tree belongs in there. So that is exactly what we did. And honestly, I underestimated how much the arch would transform the whole feeling of the set. It frames the tree in a way that feels almost like a painting, soft and intentional and quietly beautiful rather than the kind of Christmas backdrop that feels busy or overstimulating.

I chose a frosted tree because I wanted it to feel elegant and timeless rather than traditional. Soft gold ornaments, nothing too loud, nothing competing for attention. The whole set is designed to let your family be the focal point, which is always the goal. When I look at these images I want you to see your people first, the joy on your kids' faces, the way you are all together in this moment, and the set to simply hold all of that beautifully in the background.

What I did not fully anticipate was how much the afternoon light was going to elevate everything. The way it moves through the studio at that time of day adds this natural warmth and depth that you genuinely cannot replicate with artificial lighting. It wraps around the set and the people in it in the most gentle way and it makes the images feel warm and alive rather than flat or staged. I was genuinely moved when I saw the first images come through on my camera during the inspo shoot. I knew then that this was going to be something really special.

What to Expect

Christmas Petite Sessions
$395 | 30 minutes | 12 images

Sessions are held on the following dates:

  • November 6th

  • November 13th

  • November 14th

  • November 15th

Thirty minutes might sound like it goes quickly, and in some ways it does. But I have been doing petite sessions long enough to know how to use that time well. We ease in, we let the kids get comfortable, and then we move through the session with intention. By the end you will have a collection of images that genuinely captures your family in this season, not stiff or posed but real and warm and full of the feeling of Christmas together.

You will receive 12 beautifully edited images delivered through your private online gallery, ready to print, share, and treasure for years to come. These are the kinds of images that end up framed on walls and pulled out every December, and that is exactly what I have in mind when I am behind the camera.

These petite sessions are designed for immediate families, your people, the ones you want to gather and celebrate this season with. If you have a larger group in mind, just reach out and we can have a conversation about what might work for everyone.

I want to be straightforward with you because I genuinely do not want you to miss out on this. These dates will fill up. Every year my Christmas sessions go faster than I expect, and this year with the new studio space and this set, I have a feeling it is going to happen even sooner. If a date is already speaking to you, now is the time to secure it.

I cannot wait to welcome your family into this space. To see your kids light up when they walk in, to capture the way you all look at each other this Christmas, and to give you something beautiful to hold onto long after the season has passed.
