I have been watching the calendar lately, and honestly, I cannot believe we are already talking about fall. I know summer has just arrived, and here I am, pulling out my fall mood boards and getting excited about golden foliage and cozy layers and that particular quality of light that only happens when the seasons start to shift. But the reality is that my fall sessions book up so quickly that if I don’t start planning and prepping now, I will be booked before I even let you know that I have fall spots available.
Fall is the season I look forward to all year long. Not just because of the golden light and the changing leaves, though those things are truly extraordinary to photograph. But because of the way families show up this time of year. A little more relaxed, a little more present, ready to slow down and just be together for a while.
Something about the shift in seasons makes people want to hold onto where they are right now. And I get that completely.
Because right now is always worth documenting.

The Light This Time of Year
For photographers, light is everything!
And during fall in the Sacramento foothills there is a quality to fall light that I genuinely cannot stop thinking about once it starts to arrive. It sits lower and softer, and everything it touches turns warm and honey golden in the most beautiful way. It is the kind of light that makes even the simplest moment look like something worth framing.
If you have ever looked at a fall gallery and thought, how did they make it look like that, the answer is almost always the light. And we have so much of it here in El Dorado Hills and the surrounding foothills. It is one of the things I love most about photographing families in this area.
Who Fall Sessions Are For
Honestly, everyone. But if I am being real with you, fall is when families tend to feel that pull the most strongly. Maybe it is the start of a new school year and the awareness that your kids are somehow older than they were just a few months ago. Maybe it is the holidays approaching and the desire to have something beautiful to send to the people you love. Maybe it is just that quiet feeling of wanting to slow down and mark this moment before it passes.
Whatever is bringing you here, I am so glad it is.
Family sessions are my most booked sessions this time of year, and I think it is because fall has a way of reminding us that time really does move quickly. But I also have spots available for maternity sessions, newborn sessions, and senior sessions, and every single one of them is something I pour my whole heart into.
If you are expecting this fall and thinking about a maternity session, it is also a beautiful time to bundle with your newborn session and save $200 on your total investment. Just something worth knowing as you are planning.
Outdoor or In the Studio
For outdoor sessions I work throughout El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Granite Bay, Roseville, and the surrounding Sacramento foothills area. Golden hour in the fall out here is something I will never get tired of.
And if you would rather something more intimate, my studio in El Dorado Hills is warm and welcoming and honestly feels even more at home in the fall. Soft light, neutral tones, no weather to worry about. It is a really lovely option for families who want something a little quieter, more relaxed, and without the rush of having to chase the sunset light.

A Gentle Nudge on Timing
Fall books faster than any other time of year, especially October. If you are hoping to have your gallery ready for the holiday season, sooner really is better. I want to make sure we have plenty of time to plan something beautiful together without any rushing.
Please note: I will be taking the month of July off to spend time with my family, but I have opened my fall availability with sessions officially opening on August 6th, and I am already so excited about this season.
