A Year I’ll Always Be Grateful For…
This time of year always slows me down in all the best way.
Before the calendars flip and the inbox fills with fresh plans, I find myself looking back at all the sessions I have had this year…not the numbers, but all the faces. Tiny hands wrapped around a parent’s finger. Seniors stepping into who they’re becoming. Families squeezing closer, laughing and strolling through gorgeous locations and soaking in all the in-between moments. Each session this year carried its own story, its own heartbeat.
This year, I had the honor of photographing dozens of families, newborns, expecting parents, seniors, and couples across El Dorado Hills, Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, and beyond.
Every session, whether it was in a golden lakeside at sunset, a meadow of fresh lupines, spring in the almond orchards, or even a client’s quiet home - reminded me why I do this work. It’s never just about the photos. It’s about trust. It’s about being invited into someone’s season of life, to quietly observe and capture them just as they are.
If you asked me to pick a favorite session or even favorite session type, I don’t know that I would be able to choose. Newborn sessions filled with soft light and whispered hopes. Maternity sessions overflowing with joy and anticipation. Family sessions layered with history and growth. Each one mattered deeply to me. I don’t take lightly that families choose me to preserve these moments, these precious moments that will one day mean even more than they do now.
As I close out this year, my heart feels full. Full of gratitude for every family who stood in front of my lens, every parent who trusted me with their baby’s first days, every client who chose me again year after year. This work, and the families that I get to connect with every day continues to be an absolute gift…
and I am endlessly thankful.
