Why Spring Is One of My Favorite Seasons

Every year, there’s this small window before life speeds up again.

School schedules haven’t turned into end-of-year chaos yet.
Summer plans haven’t taken over your calendar.
The holidays still feel far away.

And for just a little while… families breathe differently.

Spring sessions have quietly become some of my favorite sessions of the entire year. Not because of flowers or trends or perfect weather, although those are great… but because this is often the last season before everything feels full again. It’s one of the few times when families allow themselves to slow down and be taken care of instead of rushing from one thing to the next.

And honestly… mothers especially deserve to feel a little spoiled during this window.

The Joy of slow and connected

By fall, everyone is juggling school schedules, sports, holidays, and endless to-do lists. Spring feels different. Families arrive lighter. Kids are relaxed. Parents are more present because their minds aren’t racing toward a hundred upcoming commitments.

Sessions during this time tend to feel slower and more connected. There’s space to laugh. Space to linger in moments. Space for kids to just be themselves without feeling rushed.

And because of that, the images always carry a softness that’s hard to recreate during busier seasons.

For families in Roseville, El Dorado Hills, Folsom, and nearby areas, spring becomes a quiet opportunity to create something meaningful before life speeds up again.

Let Yourself Be Taken Care Of For Once

One of the things I hear most from mothers after a spring session is how different the experience felt. Not overwhelming. Not stressful. Just calm.

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. I help guide styling. I help plan locations. I help create an environment where you can actually enjoy being present with your family instead of worrying about how everything looks.

It’s not just about taking photos. It’s about giving yourself permission to pause and let someone else hold the details for a little while.

And in a season when you’re often pouring into everyone else… that small shift can feel incredibly meaningful.

Some families come because they’ve realized how quickly their kids are growing.
Some come to celebrate motherhood in its messy, beautiful reality.
Some arrive carrying a baby they’ve waited so long to meet.

Spring sessions naturally hold space for all of it… families, motherhood, maternity, connection, quiet joy.

Golden-hour outdoor sessions feel warm and relaxed. In-home sessions feel slow and deeply personal. And each one becomes less about posing and more about simply being together in a season that still feels gentle.

A Little Note About Almond Blossoms

There’s also a brief moment each year when the almond orchards bloom, and it truly feels like stepping into something dreamlike. I offer only a very small number of almond blossom sessions, and they’re simply one sweet piece of the overall spring season.

Whether you’re surrounded by blossoms or soft evening light somewhere nearby, spring carries a kind of beauty that doesn’t need to be forced.

If You’ve Been Waiting for a Time That Feels Easier… This Might Be It

Spring sessions are less about checking something off your list and more about giving yourself and your family a gentle experience before life becomes busy again.

If you’re feeling the quiet nudge to slow down, be present, and let yourself be a little spoiled in this season… I would truly love to photograph this chapter for you.

Eventhough I do love outdoor sessions during spring my STUDIO SESSIONS are a perfect way to capture this time while staying in the comfort of indoors.
